Renewable energy-based hybrid power systems are being increasingly deployed across the globe to reduce carbon emissions. The system frequency and tie-line tend fluctuate due operating conditions. These fluctuations can be maintained within desired limits using optimally designed controllers. In this article, recently developed improved squirrel search algorithm (ISSA) is used tune parameters of different controllers, such as proportional-integral-differential (PID), two degrees freedom PID (2DOF-PID), three (3DOF-PID), a cascaded 2DOF-PID fractional order integral (FOI) improve performance system. effectiveness best controller tuned with ISSA compared other optimization techniques Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) Squirrel Search Algorithm (SSA). A two-area multi-machine considered demonstrate robustness proposed concept. first area consists thermal, hydro, wind plant, while second diesel plant. Comparative analysis carried out obtain controller, technique. Various case studies have been check system’s robustness, flexibility, reliability.
